How To Create Your Own Closet Organizer On A Budget
We’ve all seen those fancy closet organizer systems that cost a bundle but keep your closet looking great and probably most of you wish you had one in your own closet. If you are sick of trying to find clothes in the jumbled mess in your own closet but you can’t afford one of those fancy closet systems, then here’s some ways you might be able to create your own custom closet organizer without having to take out a home loan.
First of all you need to organize your clothes, shoes and accessories. This will involve removing them all from the closet and spreading them out in your bedroom, perhaps making a bigger mass than you even had in the closet in the first place! This is important though, because you need to see how much of each type of item you have so that you can decide what type of closet organization units you will need to purchase.
Now you will need to buy items that will organize your clothing and accessories as well as create more space in your closet. If you have a lot of shoes, you might consider a revolving shoe tree. You can get a nice chrome free with three tiers that revolve which holds 18 pairs of shoes for under $20. However, a shoe tree might not fit in your closet and you may not have a place for it in your bedroom or you may not want to look at shoes in a tree In your bedroom so then you might want to consider hanging shoe organizer. These inexpensive canvas bags hang from your rod and hold shoes and boxlike slots. but in my mind, shoes belong down near the floor so you might want to consider stacking boxes or even taking simple wood planks and stacking them across concrete blocks and making racks for your shoes. This way you can have shoes on the bottom and top and maybe even a third rack all along the bottom of the closet.
What about sweaters and tops? You can really save some space in your closet by getting a Canvas sweater organizer that hangs from your rack. This has six shelves where you can put folded sweaters. It’s much nicer than putting them In your bureau because the front is open so you can go in the closet and easily see what you have available for sweaters. You can stack probably 12 to 18 sweaters in the space were you could hang about three.
In my closet scarves and belts make the biggest mass as I tend to just pile them onto a regular coat hanger. But if you want your closet to be organized, you might consider either a tie rack with pegs or a scarf hanger that has 12 arms (six on each side) and hangs just like a regular coat hanger. The hanger I really like is under $10 and has 16 hooks that you can slip your belts and scarves over much like the displays you see in stores.
Organizing your pants in your closet is easy with a swingarm slacks hanger that costs only about six bucks. This is actually a hanger that has five arms in a square frame the arm swing out so you can easily access your slacks and the slacks hang folded over like on a normal hangar by you can hang five times the slacks in the space would normally take to hang one.
Creating a closet organizer this way might not make your closet look like that of a celebrity but it will help you get your clothes organized and open up more space In your closet. Just take a trip to your local Wal-Mart or home goods store and see what kind of closet organization gizmos are available. Then set aside a weekend and get organized!
