Create A Contemporary Bedroom With Asian Flair

A contemporary style bedroom can be a little bland and boring but if you add in another element such as some subtle Asian touches, you can add some interest to the room without overwhelming the style.

Contemporary design is simplistic in nature with clean lines and not a lot of clutter. Colors often muted or stick to a black white and gray scale. The furniture is minimal. All these design elements also lend itself to great Asian theme, so combining both of these in the bedroom makes a perfect and soothing retreat.

Furniture
You want to get furniture that has simple lines. nothing to show a you want it to almost blend in and not be noticed. The bed should only have a short headboard (if any at all) and bureaus and nightstands should not have decorative drawer polls. Dark wood is ideal, but this could work with a bleached wood or Birch type board as well.

Bedding
Go for simple bedding. You don’t want any busy patterns in your bedding, just a simple contemporary look of solid colors is best. for window treatments, a plain sheer or perhaps just a plain curtain in a color matching the bedding would be best.

Lighting
Here is where you can add in some of your Asian accents and, in fact, some of the contemporary lighting mimics Asian style lighting. try using lights with rice paper shades, but make sure the lighting isn’t too fancy you want your look to be subtle so no big red pagodas.

Accessories
You can soften up the contemporary look by adding In some softer Asian style accents much like the willow tree mural the high and the bad in the photo. You could get some beautiful Asian watercolor artwork or even silk embroidery work that is subtle along the same lines. don’t go crazy and put up too much, though as both the contemporary and Asian styles beg for simplicity.
